Capital Gazette: Piper-Heidsieck in Valentine’s Day Gift Guide

Capital-Gazette-logo

Capital Gazette included Piper-Heidsieck in the February 6, 2018 article Wine, etc.: Wine is the perfect gift for Valentine’s Day.

“Most men will default to the usual gift: an effortless but very expensive, cringe-worthy dinner out. Your restaurant thanks you. But the adventurous will create something more original. Maybe a handmade greeting card, a walk in the park or — egad — an engagement ring.

Don’t do anything rash. Take it from us, keeping Valentine’s Day simple has been just as satisfying to our spouses once you get past the courtship. Some flowers, a card or a home-cooked dinner at home works fine. But no matter how simple the celebration, we’ve always have celebrated Valentine’s Day with wine — Champagne to start and a nice red over a hearty meal.

Rosé Sauvage HDPiper-Heidsieck Rosé Sauvage Brut NV was featured as the only sparkling wine in The New York Times’ Valentine’s Day 2018 Gift Guide.

Lifestyle writer Shivani Vora said, “It’s not just for summer. Rosé Sauvage, meaning wild rosé in French, isn’t the typically pink-hued bubbly: It’s made with a high-proportion of Pinot Noir grapes and has a full-bodied, fruity taste. And, the pink wrapping along with the red bow makes the bottle all the more gift-able.”

The Piper-Heidsieck winery is located in the heart of Champagne, in Reims, France. The region of Champagne produces the most discerning and delicate sparkling wines in the world. This unique, fruity Champagne, carefully crafted from over 100 crus, is guaranteed to delight all the senses.

A Valentine’s Pick in Forbes

forbesBrian Freeman in Forbes picks his Valentine’s Day sparklers.

Of course, if you really want to make a statement, opt for a large-format bottling of bubbly—as I heard often last time I was in Champagne, a magnum is the perfect size bottle for two people to share. Champagne Piper-Heidsieck’s Brut Cuvée NV is a great one for around $100—a fantastic price for a magnum this well-crafted and food-friendly; their winemaker, Régis Camus, is one of the best in the business—and Champagne Billecarte-Salmon’s excellent Brut Reserve NV in magnum is just a bit more expensive (approx. $110).
